Chat Pack here

More Details

Once everyone arrives, each person takes a turn selecting a card from the deck with a question on it - once a question is asked, the asker answers the question first, and then everyone goes around in a circle and answers the question. Continue until you’d like to stop, or it sparks up another conversation! This is a great activity to do with people in your building that you are not yet close with. The questions in this pack are appropriate for strangers but will help you get to know each other on a deeper level.

FEBRUARY

Event Title: Valentine's Day Wine + Chocolate Party

Description:  If you don't have any plans for Valentine's Day, you are not alone! Come on out to hang with some friends in the building. We will supply some face masks, wine, and chocolate (but feel free to bring extra). Meet someone new or bring someone you know.

Supplies

Beverages

Decorations

Face Masks

Box of Chocolates

More Details

Before everyone arrives, set up decorations for everyone, lay out the face masks, and the box of chocolates. Encourage people to bring a friend, a significant other, or come on their own to increase attendance. Often times people are more likely to attend if they know someone already that is coming along with them! Also, if people don’t have plans, this could be a great way to fill that gap for others. Make sure you plan the event far enough in advance that people can be sure to put this on their calendar before making other plans. This can be done on Valetine’s Day itself or a weekend/Friday night ahead of time to potentially get people to come that already have plans for the big day.

Set up decorations in your common space to create an environment for attendees and also to attract the attention of passersby to join as well! Make sure to remind people to bring their favorite 6 pack, but also be sure to include people who do not drink beer, or do not drink period. You can post follow-up messages asking people to bring alternative beverages if that is their preference. This is a great event to do to get people to share a little bit about themselves, get the opportunity to connect on what they like, and hopefully spark up some conversation about beverage preferences and hopefully find some commonalities!

APRIL

Event Title: Earth Day Clean Up

Description: Come out to your local park to celebrate Earth Day by picking up trash and contributing to a healthier, cleaner earth! We will meet at ___ location and spend about an hour volunteering and spending time together. Optional drinks afterward!

Supplies

Plastic Gloves

Trash Bags

More Details

This is a great opportunity to get people out of the building. No venue is required for this one, so it should be entirely possible to coordinate with spending little to no money. You can go to your local Parks and Recreation website to look for opportunities, or google volunteering opportunities in your area. This is a great event to execute to get people to give back, get involved with the community, and hopefully attract people that would come out for a volunteering opportunity like this, but may not necessarily come to a social gathering. The activity itself is a great icebreaker!

MAY

Event Title: Cinco De Mayo Make Your Own Taco Bar

Description: Come out to celebrate Cinco De Mayo with your neighbors by making your own taco at our taco bar! We will supply all the makings of the perfect taco. Feel free to BYOB to grab a treat, hang out, and meet some more people in your building

Supplies

Hard/Soft Taco Shells

Lettuce

Tomatoes

Onions

Bowls, Dishes, Napkins + Spoons

More Details

This is a great opportunity to bring everyone together over an activity where they have to spend time making their taco, they can’t just grab and go so they’ll be encouraged to stick around, make some connections, and say hi! You can spice this up by adding in decorations, providing some Mexican-style music, and mixing up some margaritas as well. If there is anyone in the building who may be a part of this background, this is a great chance to get them involved in the planning of it to celebrate their culture and create an authentic experience.

JUNE

Event Title: First Day of Summer Outdoor Walk

Description: Celebrate the first day of summer by taking it outdoors and going for a stroll in the neighborhood. Feel free to bring a beverage to stroll with, a couple of friends, and some good vibes.

Supplies

-None!

-A speaker if you’d like to stroll with tunes

More Details

Most events will be indoors or at the building, so this is a great chance to take it outside as the weather is getting warmer. This is also a great chance to explore the neighborhood your building is in a bit more, and share stories about favorite places to eat at, drink at, and more. Use this chance to connect with your neighbors more deeply by finding out what you have in common, share recommendations, and enjoy the nice weather outside of the building together.

JULY

Event Title: Make Your Own Sundae Party

Description: As the temps are rising, cool yourself down at our building’s “make your own sundae party”. We will provide everything you need to make your own custom bowl of ice cream. Bring a fun topping of your own to add into the mix if you’d like, as you meet new friends in the building.

Supplies

Bowls, Spoons

2 flavors of Ice Cream

Sprinkles

Toppings (oreos, marshmellows, M&Ms, etc.)

More Details

Get there early - this event works best if you have a table to set everything out on. Save the ice cream in a freezer until the last moment so it doesn’t melt. You can also line the ice cream tubs with ice packs or use your building’s common room freezer if there is one available to keep it cold. Put all the toppings in bowls and make sure to add a spoon to each topping. Set this up in an area that has high visibility to passing traffic so if people see it as they pass by, and it catches their eye, they can join in on the fun too!

AUGUST

Event Title: Summer Potluck Picnic

Description: Join us out in the park for a summertime potluck. Bring your favorite dish (or just a bag of chips!) We will share food, drinks, and stories about the summer. Make some new friends in your building to hang out with, and bring along any other friends as well. Drinks are BYOB!

Supplies

-Picnic blanket

-Pick up some snacks in case there is not enough food from the potluck

More Details

Do this on a summer afternoon during the weekend for the best turnout possible. Choose a local park to encourage others to come back together after the event has ended. You can post in the event description what your picnic blanket looks like so that people can easily find you. You may want to bring some basic silverware and napkins in case the people bringing food will require these amenities.

SEPTEMBER

Event Title: Fall Game Night

Description: Come on down to the building lounge to get to know your neighbors more over a board game. As the temps are starting to cool down outside, take it inside with some games. Bring one of your favorite games, or just show up to take part of another one! Optional to bring beverages. See you there.

Supplies

-At least 2-3 board games of your own

-Optional snacks (bags of chips, pretzels, etc.)

-Beer and/or wine

-Alternative non-alcoholic beverages

More Details

This is a great way to get people to interact on a more meaningful level than just small talk, as they will have to be participating in games that will show other sides of them! This is also great as an icebreaker, so people are included in games automatically without having to be too outgoing and starting up a conversation within a big group all on their own. Make sure there are tables if necessary to set up the games on, and make sure you have at least enough games in case no one else brings them. Adding in snacks and drinks can add in even more hospitality.

OCTOBER

Event Title: Halloween Bash

Description: Hey Neighbors, come on out to celebrate Halloween together! We will meet at a local bar, everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best Halloween or fall-themed garb. Everyone can buy their own drinks, bring along a pal, and get to know more people in the building.

Supplies

-None at all!

-Just meet at the bar, you can reach out ahead of time to see if they will give you a deal for bringing in a group

More Details

If you’ve done a lot of events inside the building, or outside that require a lot of planning ahead and supply gathering, this is a great one to host to keep things both easy for you to plan and non-intimiadting for attendees. They can bring friends so they don’t have to feel pressured to go alone and make new friends all on their own. If you email or call the bar ahead of time and let them know that you expect to bring in X amount of people, they may be open to giving you a discount on drinks or a happy hour deal. This event is also at zero cost to the host!

NOVEMBER

Event Title: Neighborsgiving

Description: This is the season of celebrating friendships, new and old. Let’s do it with people that live in our community and celebrate all together. Join our Friendsgiving party! Bring one dish or beverage to share and pass around the table.

Supplies

-Have some baseline Thanksgiving food items (Turkey, stuffing, etc.) in case others don’t bring enough

-Platewear

-Some kind of beverages

More Details

This could be done in either a common area or at someone’s apartment if it is biggest enough and if they feel comfortable enough hosting. If you are cooking in, you could also come up with a list of things that the group needs so you can coordinate who is bringing what. This could either be positioned as a full-fledged meal or as a smaller evening of snacks and appetizers. If this all seems like too much work to cook, you can also take this out to a bar or restaurant setting. Another fun aspect of this event could be going around the table and asking what each person is grateful for this year. This could spark great conversation and help get to know each other on a deeper level. Have fun and get creative celebrating this holiday with your neighbors!

DECEMBER

Event Title: End of Year Holiday Party

Description: Come on out to celebrate with our building one more time before everyone heads out for the holidays. Share stories about the year, enjoy snacks and libations and share your goals for next year. Meet us in the common space, wear your best holiday sweater, and BYOB! A prize will be awarded for the most epic holiday sweater.

Supplies

-Bring some drinks in case people attend that don’t have any

-Holiday Decorations

-A creative prize for the winner of the sweater contest (could be a giftcard to a local coffee shop or restaurant)

More Details

You can host this at the building or out at a bar. Feel free to encourage people to bring others as well.
